Reach Out and Read - Areva
It is with much excitement that AREVA joins the Greater Washington Sports Alliance to participate in the National Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay. The goal for this first-time participation is to bring our North American employees closer together as they form running teams and host colleagues who are participating on Saturday, March 20th. Beyond this basic idea of team-building, AREVA will donate 1 Euro for every kilometer run by each employee to an organization called Reach Out and Read. In an effort to combat illiteracy, this charity helps promote the importance of reading aloud to babies and children by donating new books to parents when visiting their pediatrician.
AREVA is stressing the importance of physical fitness with its Athlenergy program. Track and Field athletics allows athletes of all kinds to participate. We encourage everyone to join together by participating in a team or by cheering your favorite runner. Together we can make a difference in the lives of young readers as well as making new friends within AREVA.

In the aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001, Pat proudly put his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals on hold to serve his country. This decision was just one of many he made over the course of his lifetime to help others and serve a cause greater than self-interest.
The Tillman family and friends created the Pat Tillman Foundation in 2004, following Pat’s death while serving with the 75th Ranger Regiment in Afghanistan. To honor Pat and young people like Pat, the Pat Tillman Foundation inspires others to create positive social change through its Leadership Through Action™ programs and scholarships for veterans, active servicemembers, their families, and college students across the country.
For more information about the Pat Tillman Foundation, please contact Matt Cicinelli.
