Our unique Start/Finish area provides multiple viewing points, as well as an excellent hub for all your Marathon excitement. Whether you are running, volunteering, or just watching the show, RFK Stadium will be the center for all things runDC! You also have the option to join other spectators along the course to keep the runner's spirits high! The SunTrust National Marathon, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon, and National Team Relay are expected to attract nearly 75,000 spectators. These dedicated sidewalk supporters turn the streets of historic Washington D.C. into running celebrations. There are many beautiful and fun places where fans can support their friends and loved ones on our course. The 2010 SunTrust National Marathon, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon, and National Team Relay Spectator Guide will be available online closer to Race Day! Miles 1-26.2: Your Own Neighborhood
Do you live along the 26.2 mile route? Pull up a chair and cheer! Invite your friends and neighbors to find a good spot along the route in your neighborhood to throw a National Marathon Party. Make signs to welcome the runners to your great community! Enjoy the exciting atmosphere of this wonderful event by having a pot-luck breakfast, brunch or lunch, or just putting a lawn chair on the sidewalk and having a cup of coffee or lemonade as the runners pass through your neighborhood.
Start & Finish Lines: DC Armory Mall and RFK Stadium Lot 3
The DC Armory Mall, in front of RFK Stadium, marks the Start and Finish Line. Cheer on your favorite marathoner or half marathoner as they take off and then again as they run the last yards of the race. Stay to cheer on the Junior Monumental Milers Program finishers as they take their victory lap around the DC Armory Mall and enjoy the Runners’ Village activities. Be there when the winners, as well as your favorite runners, cross the Finish Line.

For a beautiful spring day, walk around and see some of our beautiful and diverse neighborhoods. Foggy Bottom is the home to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, George Washington University and the Watergate complex. Dupont Circle is a popular area where culture and entertainment collide at the many cafes and bars.

Miles 6, 7 & 8: Adams Morgan, Bison Bend, and Howard University
See runners at the infamous “Kalorama Climb” at Mile 6, or watch them dash through the “Adams Morgan Minute” at Mile 7! While waiting for the runners to arrive, shoppers can browse independent bookshops, music stores and boutiques while gazing at murals that adorn many of the buildings’ facades. At Harvard and 4th Street, spectators at “Bison Bend” will be surrounded by cheering Howard University students and bands outperforming each other’s uniquely designed motivation stations!

Miles 9 & 10: Bloomingdale Bustle and Eckington Oomph
Spectators and runners get a spectacular view of the U.S. Capitol as the course heads down North Capitol Street running through the communities of Bloomingdale and Eckington. Today these neighborhoods are returning to full swing, and visitors are greeted warmly by residents sitting out enjoying what Bloomingdale and Eckington have to offer -- a sense of community.

Mile 11: The H Street Corridor and Union Station
Cheer on the runners when they need it the most, at the home stretch. Enjoy one of D.C.’s revitalized main streets and its vibrant restaurants and cafés.

Miles 18, 19 & 20: SW Waterfront Wonder and the Nationals Stadium
Spectators at Mile 18 can enjoy scenic waterfront area features a shimmering array of piers, sailboats, yachts, fishing boats, seafood markets and restaurants. At Mile 19, spectators and runners will get their first glimpse of D.C.’s new Major League Baseball stadium, home of our Washington Nationals!

Miles 21, 23 and 24: Anacostia Park and Minnesota Avenue/Ft. Dupont
With over 1200 acres, Anacostia Park is one of Washington, D.C.'s largest and most important recreation areas. Included in Anacostia Park is Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens and Kenilworth Marsh. Hundreds of acres are available for ball fields, picnicking, basketball, tennis, and basketball. Fort Dupont also has an ice rink, tennis and basketball courts and various athletic fields. Spectators will be cheering marathoners as they complete their final few miles of the race! Randle Circle will be a hub of cheering fans young and old alike!
