Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the SunTrust National Marathon, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield National Half Marathon, and the National Team Relay. Each year, the National Marathon relies on the support of thousands of dedicated volunteers to help staff one of the fastest growing marathons on the East Coast. Volunteers provide integral support throughout race weekend at the National Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, as well as on race day.
Volunteer Training Sessions
In order to provide as much training and education for our volunteers, we will
be hosting two Open House General Information Sessions for volunteers. These
sessions will be held at the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Headquarters at
1725 I Street, Suite 200 on Monday, March 8th from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm and on
Sunday, March 14th from 1 pm - 3 pm. Volunteers will receive their volunteer
t-shirts, directions for their assignments, as well as general race information.
This is a great opportunity to meet the National Marathon staff, Race Director
and other volunteers. Drop by anytime to pick up your information and t-shirt
and come on out to meet our team!
The office is located one block from Farragut West (blue and orange lines) and two blocks from Farragut North (red line) metro stations. Street parking is widely available as well. Snacks and beverages will be available.
If you are unable to stop by during one of the volunteer sessions, you can plan on picking up your volunteer t-shirt during Friday's National Health & Fitness Expo between 11AM and 8PM. All volunteers are encouraged to attend the National Health & Fitness Expo even if you are planning on volunteering on race-day only. The Expo is free to the public!
