SunTrust National Marathon Qualifying Standards
In order to register for the 2010 SunTrust National Marathon, you will need to have completed a race previously to qualify for entry (see below for more information). You must have an official qualifying time PRIOR to registering for either race. There are no exceptions.
There are a number of different distance races which can serve as your qualifying standard. For the full marathon in particular, you can register if you have run a 10-k in 1 hour and 5 minutes or less, a marathon in 5 hours or less, or any distance in between.
You can even use your half marathon split time from your marathon race to qualify. You may only use your 13.1 mile split from a marathon time to qualify for our half marathon. You may NOT use a split time from a marathon to qualify for our full marathon.
If you haven’t raced recently, we accept qualifying times for the 2010 SunTrust National Marathon from as far back as January 1st, 2004. So even if you have been injured, or just have not raced lately, we will help you get to the starting line.
In order to verify your submitted time, we ask that you choose a race which publishes their results, either online or in-print. It can be a half marathon in Arizona, a 10k in Georgia, or a ten-miler right here in the District. We will even take running splits from a duathlon or triathlon (splits must be published within the event results). International results will be accepted as long as results are published in English.
If you have yet to obtain a qualifying time, visit www.runwashington.com for the Greater Washington region's list of races. If you live outside the region go to http://www.runningnetwork.com/national_calendar.
Thank you and good luck in your training!
