The 2011 SunTrust National Marathon race course will remain the same as the last two year. This majestic course begins at RFK Stadium and then takes you alongside the National Mall where you will pass the Capitol Building, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Monument, in addition to the historic Smithsonian museums and sculpture garden. You will then run by the White House as you turn north on 18th Street.
As you head north through the Adams Morgan district the course will bring you by both Howard University and Trinity College where you will find some of the most inspiring of the course's many cheering stations.
Turning back south on North Capitol Street brings in a stunning view of the Capitol Building for over a mile before you head back east towards the finish of the half marathon.
If you are continuing on the full marathon, you will revisit some of the beautiful National Mall buildings before heading south along the river and past the Washington Nationals Ballpark.
Follow by a few miles on the Anacostia Riverwalk trail, you then head back across the river to the finish line at RFK Stadium. As you make your run through history, be sure you don't blink because you'll be running the fastest looped course in the country!
