  • In cooperation with the D.C. Government, the SunTrust National Marathon & Half Marathon is pleased to announce that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) will be opening the METRO Rail system at 5:00am on race morning, Saturday, March 29th, 2008.

All participants are advised to take the earliest train available on race morning. The Start Line is accessible via the Stadium-Armory Metrorail Station, which is on the Blue and Orange lines.

Please be advised - The start line will close at 7:20 am. Runners will not be permitted on course beyond that time. Prepare your departure time accordingly. Visit WMATA to plan your trip.

Spectators can watch racers by riding to Stadium-Armory, L’Enfant Plaza, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, U St/African-American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo, Shaw-Howard University, Waterfront-SEU, Navy Yard and Anacostia Metrorail stations.

  • Interstate Worldwide Relocation will provide Bag Check at the Runners Village. Look for the large green trucks on site at the Runners Village, where you will be able to check in your personal belongings during the event. Avoid the lines, and show up early for Bag Check. This is a free service.

  • Be prepared during the Health & Fitness Expo, as well as on race day to adhere to all instructions given by race officials and/or any public service agency (ie - Metro Police, Emergency Management Service, Department of Transportation, Fire Department, etc.).

  • Show up as early as you can to the event on race day morning. City streets that are affected by the course will be closing as early as 6:15, so we recommend arriving by 6:00am at the latest. There will be MANY participants arriving by car, taxi, or bus service. While there are plenty of parking at RFK Stadium, please allow time for traffic management.

If you cannot participate on race day, your registration fees will be forwarded
to the 2008 Greater Washington Sports Alliance League of Charities.
